What to send when you need a chiller quote

A good enquiry saves a site visit, or at least makes sure the first visit fixes the problem. Here is what specialists want to know.

About the equipment

  • Make, model and serial number (a photo of the nameplate is best)
  • Air-cooled or water-cooled, and how many chillers
  • Approximate age, and refrigerant type if you know it
  • Recent service reports or the current maintenance contract

About the problem

  • The exact alarm or fault code, with a photo of the controller
  • When it started and how often it happens
  • Anything that changed beforehand: work done, power outages, hot weather

About the site

  • Building type and address
  • Where the plant is: roof, basement or plant room
  • Access requirements: inductions, security, after-hours access, crane access for replacements
  • Who approves the work and how purchase orders are handled
